I'm a massive fan of the emerging trend for "naked" or "nude" wedding cakes. Partly because i'm not a fan of super-thick icing, but mostly because it's a stripped back, minimal, less-is-more style which really appeals to me. So here are some of my favourite Naked Cake designs of late:
1. VANILLA & CREAM

I love these two italian styled cakes, in particular the number of cake layers with cream frosting oozing out - the actual cake looks light and simple, decorated in fruit and herbs for an understated style.
2. BLACK FOREST FRUITS

I imagine this to taste of black forest fruits and chocolate sponge - the cream filling looks neat and balanced with the cake edges left exposed and raw.
3. THREE TIER OMBRE

A clever ombre effect is achieve here with a red velvet top tier, vanilla sponge centre and chocolate base. The filling is neatly finished off here for a more uniformed look.
4. A LITTLE RUSTIC

I really love this, as it it just perfect for small wedding - enough for 20-30 guests with a rich, dark sponge and cream filling. I love how real flowers are used as the decoration, the foliage spilling over the edge of the cake.
5. FEMININE CHOCOLATE

Now this one is particularly clever - small yet rich, with delicately done piping detailing, adding a hint of the traditional to and otherwise very modern design. Flawless.
